Powers Fasteners Expands Global Presence;

Opens China Representative Office in Shanghai

            Powers Fasteners, Inc. – a major innovator in the construction fastening industry and a leading marketer of concrete anchoring systems with corporate world headquarters in Brewster, New York -- has expanded its global presence into China with the opening of a new office in Shanghai.

            The announcement was made by Company President Jeffrey Reid Powers, who said the new office will support the Powers supply chain of quality fastening products, and particular focus will be on delivering new products to the global market with ISO-9001 quality.  “We see this as an important step to accelerate the launching and development of products tailored towards the new North American IBC building code and European ETAG requirements,” he added.

            Mr. Powers also announced that the facility would be under the direction of Jake Olsen, who has been promoted from Director of New Product Development to Vice President of Global Business Development. 

            The office is located at Jiahui International Plaza, Building A, 325 Tianyaoqiao Road, Room 3309, and is being managed by Paul Goudron, Director of Product Development; and Herman He, Product Sourcing Manager.  The staff will include local personnel specializing in quality control and logistics engineering.

            Mr. Powers pointed out that approximately one-third of Powers sales are in markets outside the United States where the company now has two locations in Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and locations in Venezuela, the Netherlands and Thailand.

            Founded 87 years ago as the Rawlplug Company, Powers Fasteners offers an extensive line of mechanical and adhesive anchoring systems, roofing fasteners, gas and powder-actuated tools and fasteners, and carbide drill bits.
